Whenever I think of Japan, I think of success. Japan has become so successful that Tokyo has become the No.1 city in Asia and No.4 worldwide. Their innovation and creativity are limitless as they create new products that are mind boggling. They are dominating in a lot of the American industries from cars to video games. They are also a world leader in the robotic industry.
The invention of the instant noodle by Japan revolutionized the world on how we eat. Even the word “otaku” is used and known worldwide. Why is Japan so successful!? We need to research them in order to understand their success.

Japan’s business culture is a major influence to their success. Of course, there are also negative aspects in their culture so I’ll only list the good ones that need to be adopted. Women in Japan still experience oppression as most of the middle to high job positions are only for men so that’s a bad trait in their culture.
13 Good Traits of Japan’s Business Culture
- Company over Family (bad and good)
- Consistency
- Determination
- Hard working
- Harmony
- Honor
- Loyalty
- Manners
- Pride
- Respect
- Strong Bond
- Team Players
- Willingness
These traits are very powerful. In listing these traits we can already see why Japan is so successful. Japan business culture plays a large part to their success and adopting all those traits would be hard unless it becomes a policy within the organization; only then can the workforce adopt it because it is expected of them. Only then can we enjoy the success Japan did.

yup, one of the major reasons why I think of Japan so highly. We need some of these trates in my home country
David, I just don’t think the USA is ever going to be a country where the majority of people put their jobs and companies before their families.
This country was built on competition and the idea that you could do anything or be anything if you were willing to work hard enough…not that you could be a corporate drone for your entire life, never seeing your family or caring about anything except the work and company until the day you died. Although there are many things I admire about the Japanese culture and traditions, when they are applied to work they become (totally my own opinion) wrong. Applied to family, to person, to religion, excellent. They will make you a well rounded whole person, one who cares for more than just themselves, who has ethics and morals, who loves and cares for others.
Of course, I have never believed that work should be your main focus in life. Your family, your friends, your beliefs and actions in the world mean a great deal more than your production schedule. Of course it is important (and good) to excel at your job, but not to the point of forgetting your life.
Kirk- Right on!
Karen- That’s why “Company over Family” is good and bad in my opinion. Maybe readjust it to “Company and Family” so all the good traits can be adopted in any organization. This way we can avoid corporate drones(from massive burnout) and have a healthier organization where the company is like a second family to the employees.
Dude, don’t wanna burst your bubble. They’re a VERY HOMOGENOUS society, like they don’t haveta work with foreigners most of the time.
Pros & cons to that,of course. Most of ‘em I’ve met don’t seem very good with English pronunciation.
In a melting pot sorta country like the U.S.,it’d be disastrous to fit all-of-the-above traits in a corporate settin’.
One nation’s panacea’s another nation’s bane.
YT- The Japanese borrow some of the English words for their vocabularies! I love how they speak some of the borrowed words when watching anime! It is very entertaining
Yeah,I love anime too!(Even @ my age.)Those with political themes are THE BESTEST.
Gundam Seed Destiny,Macross Frontier & Code Geass G2 are just simply great,’specially the soundtracks from the first 2 of ‘em.
Yeah,’em Japs are way cool, even with their queer pronunciation.
That kids’ anime “Keroro Gunso” is just WAY funny.
Methinks the reason the Japs are so successful in their marketin’ is that they’re ALWAYS tryin’ somethin’ Different,Unique & even way ODD.
