36. When fleeing is the best option

The last stratagem is where fleeing is the best option when all else fails. When all options have been exhausted, then fleeing is your best option. Flee to fight another day. When the timing is right you’ll be able to rise again.
When things fail, it is best to retreat and then regroup in order to plan your next course of action. Rather than surrendering, fleeing will keep all your options open as you escape to wait for the appropriate timing and planning to retaliate. That’s why it is the last stratagem. When all else fails, flee.

Dave: now that you’re done with all the stratagems, what’s next? Some other Chinese classic? There’s supposedly another set of 36 stratagems recorded elsewhere.
My only comment is:
????????? - s?nshí liù jì, z?u wèi shàng cè
“Shang bai zhe bu wang ye.” : “he who fails does so at least expense & does not become extinct.”
From Mastering the Art of War, Liu Bowen, adviser to the first Ming emperor

Dear Yours Truly,
Probably because we are the ones interested… Anyway, I read somewhere only 1 in 10 people who read will bother to post. The rest are contented to be lurkers.
Come to think of it, before I started blogging, I was content to lurk too.
YT- I didn’t know there’s another set of 36 stratagems? Any name or link to a set of examples!?
Avatar- Yeah, I lurk around too hehe.
