Watch the Fires burning across the River

watch the fires burning across the river

“Watch the fires burning across the river” implies waiting until all the enemies has exhausted their resources and fighting power among themselves before coming in. Doing so will allow you to sweep them off with minimal effort and resource. Use your enemies’ disadvantages to your advantages.

Observe when the time is in your favor. There are occasions where you don’t need to waste even a single resource to obtain victory. Let the timing be ripe and the occasion in your favor. When your enemies are plagued with internal rivalry and external enemies, wait until the best moment to strike with minimal effort.

Watch closely on the changes of time to guard and attack the enemies. It only takes an opportune moment to wipe out your enemies. Create internal and external enemies for your enemies. Then engage when your enemies are empty. That is what it means to “watch the fires burning across the river”.

Good advice when applied to business, I guess that was kind of the jest behind this post. Patience can be a real ally and money saver, when put to work in the right order and time.

Real life case - Let your competitor to outbid you in a tender with a crazy offer and then when he fails to deliver walk in and supply the desperate client … You will be able to sell in better price than your tender winning competitor. And your competitor may also get hit by penalties and claims from the client and may end up paying for the difference between his low (impossible) offer and your normal selling price. Evil :-) but happens often …

Just remember the others are watching and waiting too :-)
