Negotiation is a very powerful process that can make or break a deal. You would need to be a great talker and have a sharp tongue in order to break down the self protective barriers of the person you are negotiating with in the negotiation process. Some people are so persuasive that even a bad deal can sound like a good deal. In one point of your lifetime, you have either seen or been through them.
It is fascinating how carefully used words can persuade people into a deal that can benefit you more than them. Negotiation is usually a time where both parties try to satisfy each other demands but one of them will surely get the short end of the stick. It is just a matter of leverage and bending of words to your favor.

Always have a calm voice when you negotiate. Try to use reverse psychology and make the opponent think that the things you want are not that important in the deal. Persuading that they have the better end of the deal is always the best way to get the negotiation done. Persuasion and leverage are keys in a negotiation.
Use negotiation to your advantage to get the best deals going. Go low on your deals first and then raise it a bit higher to see the reaction on the person you are negotiating with. Negotiating is an art and mastering it will prove invaluable to your business.

Timing is also very important factor. Sometime trying to negotiate the right deal with the right person is impossible or very difficult if you are not patient and start talking before the person is ready to accept what you have to propose.
I had situation where I needed to press for certain arrangements. People involved grew impatient as anytime they asked me if had the talks with the party concerned my only reply was “Wait for the right timing”. It took about 6 months before I felt that it is THE time. We sat down, easy casual talk with only a mild pressure from my side, and made all the agreements in less than half hour. About 8 years has since passed and what agreed on that time still stands all parties involved are happy. I am very sure that should started the discussions too early, the talks would be difficult and I am not sure things would have worked out the way they did.
Unfortunately there are times when I do exactly the opposite
Thanks for backing me up there biz. I almost forgot how timing is crucial to a deal. Smart move there Biz!
