
The glass ceiling is a barrier to progress. Talents and wisdoms are wasted as people who are capable are denied access to the top positions because of ethnicity and sex (female). It seems a lot of companies still have the glass ceiling in effect and doing so will only weaken their companies (will eventually doom them); If you are one of those companies that deny your employee’s promotion when they should be promoted, they will offer their services elsewhere and are usually recruited by the very competitors you are competing against.
Having a glass ceiling is like locking the potential of your employees and the company itself. They have what it takes to get to the top but due to ethnicity and sex (female), they were denied. Such a case will send most employees packing while others will start working for the very competitors that you are competing against because of better treatment (they also leave with them their trade secrets, skills and client’s connections).
The glass ceiling is a hindrance to progress, one that needs to be abolished. In such a diversified age, talents and wisdom are wasted because of preference. Producing result is what matters so ethnicity, sex, religion and preference should never be a factor in promotion. Breaking the glass ceiling is necessary in order to advance your company to the next stage.
Choose result rather than preference. Racism and sexism is a thing of the past so break the glass ceiling before regretting it. Your competitors will have the last laugh when they recruit your disgruntled yet capable employees who were denied top positions because of the glass ceiling. How can you compete when your competitor knows all of your plans, company structure and trade secrets as your old employees divulge them all to their new boss?
