“Replace the beam with rotten timbers” is a phrase where one interferes with the enemy’s operation in order weaken him. It can mean from stealing the enemy’s talented to infiltrating and sabotaging the enemy’s structure. Replace what is strong to weak. Replace what is effective to ineffective. Destroy the foundation of the enemy… only then would one be able to easily overcome the enemy
This stratagem is an unorthodox method, one that promotes indirect measures into hindering and destroying the enemy. Disrupt, interfere, hinder, weaken, steal, deceive, replace and eliminate. That is what it means to “replace the beam with rotten timbers“.
