What is reverse psychology? You can say it is a way to get the person to do something you want by saying and doing the opposite. It is a way of manipulating others. By playing your cards right, most actions can be manipulated with reverse psychology. Learning about psychology can be a great way to exploit other people’s actions.

reverse psychology

  • The more you say you don’t want them to do something, the more they want to do
  • The more you do something that you don’t want others to do, the more others will want to do.

People profit using reverse psychology and many people use it for their own agendas. In a way, you manipulate someone through your speech and action. You intend for the manipulated to do something you want by saying or doing the opposite. If you want people to do something for you, reverse psychology can be the solution.

Understanding the heart of others and using it to your advantage is a strategy for marketing, business and etc. Reverse psychology has a powerful effect on humans which can dictate their actions. Learning psychology doesn’t sound so bad after all…

David I know that you definitely won’t send me a huge box of Godiva Chocolates and a gift card to Barnes and Nobel for $1000. Because of course I would be unable to accept them, because they would be too much. I’m sure your tactics of persuasion wouldn’t work on me at all and that you wouldn’t be able to convince me to keep them. Nope. Not gonna happen.
