There’s a lot of marketing and controlling based on fear. Businesses will control employees through fear, where they will get fired if they can’t produce the results that are deemed acceptable by the business. Fear is also used on marketing, where businesses try to scare consumers into buying the product or service because they need it to secure their lives. Fear works, but it is such a short term tactic that the backlash will wipe out their business in the end.
When fear is extensively used in controlling employees, they either end up being immune to it or absorbed by it. People who are immune don’t care about fear; people who are absorbed by fear will act selfishly to save their own skins. The people who are absorbed by fear will be consumed by it and will destroy the business inside out to not be laid off. Worse part is when the feared start backstabbing, spread rumors or even betray their own company in order to save themselves or profit from it.

Fear has been used in marketing for almost forever. We see it on television, internet and even on mail. Marketing fear works, but to the extent that the population will become immune to it after numerous repetition. Fear them too much and they will be immune to the message. When they are immune to it, your expensive message no longer works.
Fear instigates betrayal, lack of trust, and selfishness. If you are to use fear in your business and marketing, you will regret it in the end. What comes around goes around. Instead of being feared, you will be the one who fears. You’ll make your employees your enemies and your marketing will not get through to the consumers after a while. Fear works, but for how long and at what price in the end.
