You are so very correct. And this is especially crucial for small businesses. Where you may not be able to offer the discount, or some other availability of a large business, your attention to detail, personalization, and gold star treatment of each client will keep your clients from turning to those larger companies.

You’re a smart cookie David. I really detest dirty bathrooms, and being ignored when I walk into a business will make me feel unwelcome…so I leave.

I’m always amazed by how many companies forget the small stuff. And I try very hard to notice that small stuff when it IS there and appreciate it.

The problem, since it IS small stuff, is that it is not easy to notice it when it happens. Find a company you respect ad enjoy being a customer of, and I’m betting there are many small things that they do that make you feel that way. But try to break it all down logically, and you’ll have a hard time finding the “little” things that they do every time you go.

Pay close attention next time, and try to emulate the things you notice in your own business - I think you’ll be amazed by the results!

Lankapo- the blog theme makes a great first impression. A clean and uncluttered blog is a good impression to viewers.

Shelia- Indeed, those good impressions can distinguish yourself from your competitors.

    Karen- Same here!

Andrew- researching and emulating some of the things your competitors do is a good way to fight the competition.
