1. Deceive the heavens to cross the ocean
In order to complete your goals sometimes you have to conceal them. By revealing your goals before the opportune time, there’s a chance that someone will stop you. If you know your goals are not favored than conceal it and bring it to fruition later. Deceive in order to achieve.
Another example is to deceive the enemy in order to weaken them. Deceive the enemy with ploys in order to cause bickering among the enemy’s group that will eventually weaken their unity. This will create an opportunity to penetrate on their weakness of unity.
Last example is to deceive the enemy in information in order to create a large gap. Information is valuable and spreading out false information to your enemies will not only exhaust and weaken the enemy, but destroy their morale as well. You’ll have an easier time competing. That is what it means to “deceive the heavens to cross the ocean”.
