You need to use a logo that appeals to the Chinese market in order to effectively penetrate the market with little cost. You can use logos such as Chinese characters, symbols, zodiacs, animals and so on (or a combination of both). You should also research on Chinese short stories and mythical tales to help you in creating your logo. Those stories and tales are part of the Chinese culture and learning them will prove useful in the long run (also makes a great conversation for your clients).

Is important to let your Chinese client knows that you are with them.
Indeed! I been checking out some of the logos that Chinese companies have been using in China. Is a whole new ball game since you need to understand the Chinese language in order to make an effective logo.
Great blog! And very insightful. I’m American, but have spent years in China and have Chinese family. Letting your Chinese clients know that you connect with their culture is key! Let’s not forget they’ve got a few 1000 years on us
Definitely get someone who is Chinese to help you though. An embarrassing mis-translation could make you look foolish!
Myku- Thank you for your kind words! And what you said was important too! Connecting with people using their culture is key to friendship and trust.
Good article, David. Are there any companies providing affordable services to small businesses that want to reach the Chinese market?
For instance, if a business wanted to create a website for the Chinese market, are there companies that will help with choosing a domain name, getting a logo designed, translating text for the site, and so on?
Most Western companies would like to know more about doing business in China or reaching the Chinese market, but do not have a clue how to get started.

Anita- you know, that would be a great small startup venture for some people that know English and Mandarin. I just found a website http://www.salesvantage.com/d/Asian_American_Marketing_Agencies/
that can locate Asian American Marketing Agencies. I think they should be able to help. Also, http://www.marketingfuture.com/ can create a website for the Chinese market. Just found those two just by googling!
