Biz- too true indeed!

Marie- Yea, I experience that sometimes too :| . At first you might think they are great, but soon you realize they are not what you think they are!

Scott- Thank you! Hyping is a business marketing practice that many marketers use (which can backfire). Having substance will definitely give you a better chance to succeed.

Creating something from nothing is a practice many bloggers try to employ in an effort to generate real traffic. And it is funny, because that is exactly what local bands attempt to do to get better shows. Bottom line is, if your music is good, you will have a better chance. Just like with business, blogging, well, heck anything. If you have substance, you have a better chance to succeed.

Excellent post again, David.

I believe it begins with certain personalities. I have met and worked with individuals who will try and look good in front of higher management, to show how able and competent they are, but when you have to work with them you find out it's all talk.

I think this can also be translated to people who have a business or brand and they are able to pull the wool over people's eyes and give the impression that they are really great and fantastic. When you step back and really take a look at them, you find yourself scratching your head asking, what great idea/innovation did they really come up with that had a positive impact? Not much.
