Cheap Ways to Market Your Business

There are a lot of different ways to market your business. Here are some cheap effective methods.

  1. Business Cards
  2. Website
  3. Word of Mouth
  4. Signs Outside of your Building
  5. Show your Awards & Charitable Events

1. Business Card makes you look good
Business card is a cheap and effective method to get people to know who you are and what you do. Business cards are usually cheap, but if you want high quality ones that are more durable and unique, you should get plastic or rubber business cards which are more expensive. Why more durable? Because the life of a business card varies by the quality it was made, even if you have a great business, if I can’t read your card after a few months it is practically useless (I usually stuff people’s business cards in my wallet and it looks pretty ugly after a few month from bent edges to faded text). The Best things to put in your business card are your company’s name, title, name, address and website. To make it more distinguished and professional you should put your logo and picture up (use Photoshop to make you look nicer! That picture counts a lot).

2. Website makes you look legit and professional
Website is another great method that is cheap and effective. In this day and age we usually check online for your company before even making the call to see what you have to offer. Not having a website makes you look bad, unprofessional, and inadequate information on your business, mission statement and etc.. Hosting is very cheap nowadays and they even let you register a domain for free as part of a package, I use blue host which is a great host at 6.95/mo with many features. There are cheaper ones too but like they say “you get what you pay for”.

3. Word of Mouth makes you “The Real Deal”
Word of mouth can spread pretty fast if you are good at what you do. Also it is basically free advertisements from your clients which then they will refer you to their family, friends, and relatives if you are that good. If more people show up in your door from “word of mouth” you know you are doing something right.

4. Signs Outside of your Building = Free Ad Space
Take advantage of your windows to advertise about your business but don’t cover all your windows with ads. If your office is located at the 2nd or 3rd floor of the building make a sign in your window to let people know you exist! Use neon lights at night so people can see it!

5. Show your Awards & Charitable Events = Must Do
Everyone loves a pro who knows what he/she is doing so show your awards (related to your business) out; this way the clients will have more confidence and respect for you.If you are involved in charitable events or charitable donations, show them! The last thing you want your clients to think about you is that you’re nothing but a money hungry individual that is out there to make profits and nothing else! Doing charity will clear that image (money hungry individual) and good luck will come out of it as well. So be involve in charity if you haven’t done so already.

This is a good list. I would also say that having a blog (part of the website) is another cheap way to promote your business - it helps you build a relationship with your customers for a very low cost.
