Being stern and firm is a mentality that gives the ultimate perception of power. People who are passive can never achieve much for they are lukewarm in their stance. It is either all or nothing. There is no middle ground when it comes to authority or people will always challenge and criticize you.
Sternness evokes authority, firmness shows capacity. Both creates clarity. Being stern and firm is to be absolute in judgment from having others second guess you, causing confusion and frustration. A serious perception that is unyielding gives more leverage than the best of tongues can put forth.
