8 Ways to Increase Your Employees Productivity

Many companies struggle to increase productivity for their company. More often then not, CEOs abuse their employees just to get them to do more (it actually makes them do less). Here are 8 safe ways to increase your employees’ productivity without any abusing, harassing or screaming. These are 8 safe-guarded ways to ensure productivity for any company.

increase your employees productivity

15-20 Min Break- giving your employees a little break can be a great energizer. That little break is necessary in order to re-energize their body and mind. Take it from the Japanese where they have a power nap during the midday to re-energize their mind and body (ok, they typically work 12 hours a day, but a 15-20 min power nap will definitely increase concentration).

Be Nice- be nice to your employees and they will treat you well. You might be afraid that being nice will only leave you vulnerable as your employees will take advantage of you. Make them feel guilty when they do and they will most likely stop. Never be angry or curse at your employees. Hatred breeds hatred, which is a vicious cycle.

Breakfast- a lot of employees may skip breakfast because of dieting, timing constraint or money. Either way, you should provide them with breakfast. They will be thankful and energized because breakfast is the most important meal of the day (should not be skipped).

Doctor- having a doctor in the company to treat your employees personally is a great way to maintain productivity if they aren’t feeling well or if they need some medication. Take care of their health and they will be able to produce results for you.

Gift Cards- give your employees’ gift cards, but not just any gift cards! Give them a gift card which can help benefit the company and the employee at the same time. How about a Barnes & Nobles gift card (to increase their knowledge) or maybe even a Starbucks gift card (coffee and cake to re-energize the mind)?

Gym- a gym reduces a lot of your employees’ stress that piles up from working long hours. Having a personal gym in your company might be the perfect way to reduce your employee’s stress after work to increase their productivity the next day.

Therapist- having a therapist at your disposal is a great way to treat your employees if they have any psychological problems. More often than not, your employees suffer depression so having a therapist will definitely help you and your employees.

No Overtime- Try to avoid overtime because it will only increase the fatigue of your employees. Overtime isn’t’ really that efficient since the workers productivity will suffer the next day. The employee’s exhaustion will stack heavily against you if you perform too many overtime.

These are 8 ways to increase your employee’s productivity. Be smart and use the right approach in order to get the employees to be on your side. Just because they work for you doesn’t mean they will devote themselves to you. You have to be compassionate to your employees in order to win their hearts.

You can also increase productivity by creating templates of commonly used documents. We use these at work instead of recreating the wheel. Also I read from James Brausch that writing down other processes helps alot. If one employee starts the process and gets sick, the other can finish up the task.

David….Feed me, fix me physically and psychiatrically, give me some nap time and a present and I am SO TOTALLY YOURS.

Dan- Those are great ideas! Thanks for the input! I totally agree about writing step by step information so others can take over if something happens to them.

Karen- Looks like I already won your heart =D.

Be Nice is the simplest step of all the above, but sometime the most difficult one to do (I am saying it from the boss point view)

The Starbucks gift card I actually received from my staff few weeks back :-)

I definitely agree with the “no overtime”. It is impossible to eliminate it altogether, some flexibility from both boss and staff is necessary, but even as a company boss I do not like when people stay behind for long hours. There is nothing worse than people turning into zombies because of not enough rest.

Great tips, but the company I work for already provides these. I think some workforces are just plain spoiled ie lazy. And will take take take and not give the productivity in return.

BizGiftGuru- Oh, definitely! A lot of people struggle on “being nice” because it creates a lot of vulnerabilities as well.

Ahmad- Hey, how are you doing! I remember you =D.

Debo- Be careful who you employ!

Most of your points are also very relevant for the work at home entrepreneur.

If I am honest, there are days that I just jump straight to the computer without getting breakfast. I should keep ready made breakfast items on hand for those days.

No overtime would be another good one to implement for myself.
